Burbank’s Holiday in the Park

If your looking for something to do tonight start the holiday season along Magnolia Boulevard. Come dance and sing with your neighbors see the attractions and get into the Holiday Spirit. Download A Park passport or pick one up at Magnolia Park merchants if you get it stamped by 15 participating merchants, you’ll be eligible to win some prizes!

Happy New Year Burbank! Hope everyone had a fun and safe New Years Eve. We would like to congratulate the builders of the Burbank Rose float for winning the Animation Award. You can still vote for “Viewer’s Choice” Award until 5:00pm today. If you didn’t see the parade you still a chance to see the float at the viewing in Pasadena The hours are today, tomorrow and Sunday between 1:00pm-5:00pm, 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. for senior citizens and disabled visitors. Admission is $7, free for children five and under. Before you go you can download free a audio tour and put it on your ipod. There will also be Viewing of Burbank’s float January 4-6: at George Izay Park parking lot.

Put on your long underwear and warm socks, it’s cold in the that big hangar where the Burbank Rose Float is built. This is crunch time and they need all they help they can get. Burbank is one of the few cities who’s float is decorated completely by volunteers, where as other cities now use professionals. Yes it’s cold, but the warmth and excitement is contagious. They’ll even give you some pizza if your there around dinner time. High school kids earning credit, first time volunteers, and families who have been working it for generations, they are all there and happy to help you get started. Keep in mind they do not accept new volunteers to decorate the float on December 30 and 31. On these dates they are frantically concentrating on finishing the float and usually do not have the time to train new volunteers. Here is were you go if you want to volunteer 123 W Olive Ave

Arts and Crafts Holiday Boutique

There is a wonderful little Holiday Boutique going on right now over at the Creative Arts Center. The boutique items are created by students and they include pottery, paintings, clothing, hand maid jewelry, and much more. The hours of the boutique are Friday, 9:00 am – 7:00 pm Saturday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Sunday, 1:00 – 4:00 pm Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 8:00 pm and The Creative Arts Center is located at 1100 West Clark Avenue.

Burbank’s Tree Lighting Ceremony

Tonight in front of City Hall will be Burbank’s tree lighting ceremony . Santa will be there from 6:00 to 8:00pm as well as Mickey and Minnie Mouse and others, don’t miss this opportunity to welcome in the holiday season with your friends and neighbors.

Holiday In the Park

Tomorrow on Magnolia Boulevard between Buena Vista and Hollywood way. The street will come alive with Christmas Carols and people celebrating Holiday in the Park. Take photos with Santa Claus, Get your Passport and stroll from store to store geting stamped by at least 15 of the participating merchants and complete the entry form.Then bring your completed passport to the Main Stage at Lima and Magnolia by 8:30pm to be entered in the Holiday in the Park prize drawing!

Meet Some of Burbank’s Dedicated Rose Float Volunteers

What struck me most about these volunteers is their dedication……we wouldn’t have a float if it weren’t for the “core group of 20 or so”. They are all volunteers and happily donate their time and effort.

The ”deconstruction party” will take place this Saturday, Jan 10 at 123 W. Olive. Helpers needed, over age 5.
